How To Use This Letter
Feel free to use this letter, as is or as a starting point, to extend our invitation via yourself to an elected official who needs assistance sneaking out for a town hall.
The Invitation
Dear Representative of The People,
We are writing to extend to you an open invitation to let us help you solve the growing reputation problem we know you’re dealing with. It has come to our attention that some around you may be dissuading you from appearing before your constituents. We do not know if those who are doing this believe you do not need to receive a performance review from the people who have loaned you the office you currently hold, or if they hold you in such low esteem they believe you are, shall we say, mentally deficient.
We of course do not think this of you, despite what we may have, and probably will, write otherwise. We understand that your usual route of organizing a town hall may be blocked by these naysayers around you, so we have devised a way around this for you. We have developed a comedy show, a game show of sorts, that is also a functioning town hall. Comedians play the parts of absentee elected officials to answer questions and try to win points. It’s good fun, but here’s a secret: this entire show is designed to allow you to go onstage and wildly insane things, completely detached from reality stuff (like you may already do) and still win!
You could easily jump in the game for a round or two, or stay for the whole time. And since this just a bit of local theatre, your handlers (or guards or whatever you call the people in ear) won’t suspect a thing! You will be able to hear the real thoughts of the people you represent, and maybe get a prize or something.
